Some moments ago, Linda Ikeji Blog reported that the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun state command; Superintendent Abimbola Oyeyemi, publicized a press release about the death of a female undergraduate (Idowu Buhari) who was beaten to death by her ‘yahoo boy’ boyfriend.
After being arrested by men of the Ogun state Police Command for allegedly killing his girlfriend, the 27-year-old Yahoo suspect named Obeta John said, “I killed her (my girlfriend) for refusing to give me the money my client paid into her account.”
According to SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the deceased was a HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway polytechnic in Saapade. The PPRO noted that those who tried to stop the boyfriend from beating her could not because he locked his room’s door. After a distress call was made to the police station by the suspect’s neighbors, officers stormed the scene only to meet the victim in a pool of blood. Despite being rushed to the state hospital in Ishara, she still ‘kicked the bucket’.
The boyfriend was, after investigations by officers, realized to be an indigene of Enugu state and he his presently in custody of the state’s law enforcement officers.
The PPRO lastly said that the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCID) for diligent prosecution after adequate investigations.
